As Material handler and purchasing assistant, you’ll be able to make a real impact in supporting the lab and the manufacturing operations of the fastest growing startup in Silicon Valley. In this great opportunity, you’ll serve as a key Supply-Chain resource as well play a key role in sustaining GenapSys through a period of rapid, industry-defining growth. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule, have at least some Lab/Office shipping/receiving and purchasing experience, display exceptional attention to detail and superb organizational skills. This position offers a ton of challenges and learning and growth opportunities.


The primary function of a Shipping/Receiving Coordinator at Genapsys is to assist with the timely execution of day-to-day Supply-Chain activities in relation to lab reagents, chemical and instrument parts, performing purchasing, receiving, storage and supply (both internal and external).

All responsibilities would be covered with on-the job training and would be required to be performed in compliance with Genapsys established procedures/guidelines.


  • Processing, sorting, and staging packages for delivery.
  • Promptly notify recipients about receipt of their packages.
  • Advanced experience preparing and packaging outgoing materials to prevent in-transit damage.
  • Advanced experience preparing shipping documentation for both domestic and international shipments.
  • Receive, count and verify all incoming parcels, freight, etc., notating damage and discrepancies.
  • Log all incoming items, letters and packages, including certified, registered, return receipt, Federal Express UPS and DHL.
  • Prepare and package outgoing materials to prevent in-transit damage including palletizing.
  • Adhere on requirements and perform material/documentation inspection.
  • Additional training would be provided for all in-house systems.

Purchasing and Assembly Duties:

  • Issue Purchase Orders under the guidance of the Supply Chain Specialist.
  • Assist and perform required secondary assemblies when needed..
  • Coordinate and work hand-in-hand with Lab managers and Engineering function.
  • Ensure proper handling of materials/products and the integrity of data capture into ERP system.

Cycle Count:

  • Perform cycle counts as scheduled.
  • Perform reconciliation of count discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper handling of materials/products and the integrity of data capture into ERP system.


  • Perform packaging of completed assets in need of shipment.
  • Verify and perform pick/pack operations.
  • Coordinate work with Logistics and to ensure committed volumes are released to forwarders on time.
  • Ensure proper handling of materials/products and the integrity of data capture ERP system.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least a year of Shipping/Receiving/Purchasing experience preferably in a scientific or chemistry-based manufacturing environment.
  • Working computer literacy using ERP systems, Microsoft spreadsheet and word processing software, storekeeping and inventory control procedures are required.
  • Preferably to be familiar with GMP’s, product specifications incoming inspection procedures.
  • Basic verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface well with cross-functional teammates.
  • Experience with FDA regulated medical device manufacturing.


  • Secondary School Education with or without N/O levels, NITEC or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years in Shipping/Receiving role.
  • Experienced with ERP system is a plus.
  • Be physically able to lift 40 lbs


  • At least 3 years of experience handling materials in a biotech lab/facility operations.
  • Experience providing support in a fast-paced environment (experience with high-growth start-up environments is a plus).
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with leadership, and when needed with the whole company, about Facility and Safety topics.


  • Familiar with tracking systems such as FedEx, UPS, DHL and Envoy
  • Proficient in Physical Inventory counts and procedures
  • Familiar with preparation of international shipments and regulations
  • Proficient on import/export regulations
  • Familiar with NetSuite transaction
  • Proficient with Google platform and Excel
