Love arts and crafts? Going for meals? Lovely walks? Or how about a trip to the Cat Cafe! Well, what if I told you this could all be part of your job?

Working as a part time Senior Support Worker for MacIntyre Care is more rewarding than you think. MacIntyre Care is an award-winning national charity supporting people with autism and learning disabilities and we’re now hiring in Pontesbury, Shropshire.

We are currently recruiting a part-time Senior Support Worker to help support a 47 year old lady with her hobbies and interests.

You'll be working in our Outreach service in Pontesbury, Shropshire covering 16 hours during the week with the occassional respite over a weekend.

You must be Female* to apply for this position due to the operational requirements of the service.

You'll support our lovely lady on an outreach basis in her home and out in the local community, participating in activities of her choice. She enjoys arts and crafts, and loves writing letters.

She is currently phasing in attendance at day service with support which she is enjoying, as it gives her a chance to meet up with old friends and get to know new people. This lady attends 'Move On' Club and enjoys time at the Cat Café too. She also likes meals out and walks around the local area, which you'll be joining her for. She has a really good sense of humour and enjoys socialising with her staff member.

This lady has diabetes and epilepsy which are well managed with medication; and can display challenging behaviour. We will provide you with full training and back-up from our specialist teams and your colleagues, so you know how best to support her.

As mentioned, we also support with respite care for her, so there will be the occasional evening and sleep-in requirement in the role. This will vary dependent on the needs of the family/individual and therefore may fall on a week day or weekend.

About us

We are an Award winning Charity that has the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behavior Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability.

What we need from you

You may already be working in care and looking for your next step up.. It is a bonus if you've worked with vulnerable people before however, we will be interested in hearing from people who've had exposure to the care industry whatever the discipline.

The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no 2 days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and it’s something you’ll never forget.

The type of person who makes a great support worker at MacIntyre, is someone who is an excellent listener, is empathetic to another persons needs and will eventually be able to just ‘know’ what may or may not be good for the person they are supporting.

As long as you have the passion and drive to want to make a real difference, we’ll teach you the rest. With your key attributes and our training, together we can deliver the best possible support.

You must be a driver with your own transport which is insured for business use.
