The OR Tech is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures.


Education and Work Experience

High School diploma or GED required.
2. Graduate of Surgical Technologist training program required.
3. BLS Certification (AHA only) required.
4. Minimum of one year surgical scrub experience in an acute care setting required.
5. Surgical Tech certification preferred.
Please note the following:

A healthcare facility may not employ or allow a person to engage in the practice of surgical technology unless:

They have successfully completed a program for surgical technologists that is accredited by a national accrediting organization and is certified as a Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); or
2. Successfully completed a training program for surgical technologist administered by the United States Public health Service, Army, Navy, Marine Corps or coast Guard; or
3. Engaged in the practice of surgical technology in a health care facility prior to January 1, 2018.
Employees must be in their current position for a minimum of six calendar months and not received any disciplinary action within the last six months to apply and be considered for a transfer.
