About us:
The TfL Safety and Citizenship (S&C) team have been helping children experience the joys of public transport for over 13 years. Through interactive sessions with students in schools, Junior Citizenship Schemes and community events, the team bring transport to life.
We design and deliver engaging and dynamic workshops designed to increase young people’s awareness of how to travel safely and responsibly on the public transport network.

As part of the London Transport Museum, the team work closely with partner agencies including the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade to educate and encourage children to make positive, informed choices as they become more independent. In the last academic year over 89,000 primary and 9,000 secondary students benefitted from engagement with the programme.

About the role:
You will plan, develop and implement Junior Citizenship Schemes and multi-agency events which help prepare year 6 students for greater independence in secondary school.
Ascertaining the needs for each borough and allocating small grants where needed, if bids are successful is also part of the role, as is travel throughout London.

You will work closely with the Head of Learning & Development and Joint TfL, Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and London Fire Brigade (LFB) board to organise and facilitate Junior Citizenship Schemes for boroughs that are not already actively participating in a scheme. You will be Implementing procedures and policies and providing support to maintain continuity and consistency of the schemes across London.
You will play a key role in identifying and developing new creative partnerships as well as developing and maintaining existing links with teachers, Local Education Authorities (LEA’s), youth groups and other TfL departments, MPS, LFB & London Ambulance Service (LAS)
The role will require you to be responsible for monitoring and tracking progress of the schemes and troubleshoot any issues as they arise.

About you:
You will possess knowledge of GLA, Mayor’s Office and/or Assembly and Parliamentary procedures, including the legislative process and select committee practice, and familiar with key politicians and their areas of interest.
Good knowledge of a public sector environment is desirable, as is sound knowledge of TfL organisational structure and services, and an understanding of TfL’s strategic goals and objectives.

A good understanding of the relationship between the media, political decision-makers and our influential stakeholders is required, as are good numeracy skills and the ability to analyse and interpret statistical data.
You will have experience of working in an office environment providing administrative support to managerial/professional staff, preferably gained within a customer services environment.
