Insurance Finance currently has an opportunity in the Data Systems & Change (DS&C) team for an individual with strong .NET development skills to undertake project delivery and application support. The DS&C team is a dynamic business intelligence team supporting the Insurance division to be the best Bank for Customers.

As a Finance colleague you’ll have exposure to senior stakeholders and across a variety of functions within the Insurance division and Finance functions, and you’ll be involved in change initiatives critical to our general insurance and life, pensions & investments business.

You’ll design and develop software solutions within the .NET framework and be familiar working in an agile environment to solve complex financial business problems. You’ll be hands on, delivering on projects and growing the team’s technical capabilities. You’ll contribute to the overall technical direction of the team in combination with you effective leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

What would you get involved with?

You’ll deliver project and BAU driven change to our finance applications and backend database systems, ensuring a high quality of output under traditional and agile delivery methodology. As a senior member of the DS&C team, you’ll demonstrate a collaborative approach in your delivery, working with and influencing across teams to share best practise and deliver to project objectives.

You’ll build and manage effective stakeholder relationships across LBG and have the ability to find creative solutions to unfamiliar problems.

You’ll create new solutions, configure existing systems and provide end user support. Innovation is at the heart of our team, so you’ll have a passion for exploring new ways of working and adopting new technologies.

In this role, you’ll be able to write functional code with a sharp eye for detail and spotting defects. You should be a team player and excellent communicator.

Key accountabilities:

  • Analyse data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture
  • Develop, test and implement code to departmental standards
  • Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle
  • Proactively develop and maintain customer relationships, in order to meet current and future business needs
  • Stakeholder influence at all levels, work closely with business colleagues to understand and shape requirements and solutions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Group and DS&C procedures, guidelines and reporting requirements as well as any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Manage and minimise operational risk; effectively work within and maintain internal networks for the purpose of optimising business results

  • Mentor and coach other team members in a range of skills and behaviours, to include both technical and development lifecycle best practice

What skills and experience can you bring to the role?

Technical competencies:

  • Expert C# .Net design and development experience Strong Object Orientated design skills, design patterns, multi-threading and real-time development experience
  • Proficient experience of UI design and build with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2012+ / T-SQL & Stored Procedures
  • Demonstrated experience and proficient understanding of JSON/XML and serialization
  • Application of DRY and SOLID Principles
  • Experience of N-tier and N-layered architecture design and usage
  • Analytical skills
  • Programming skills
  • Business Partnering
  • Business Testing

Generic competencies:

  • Ensure that communication to the business is professional, clear and appropriate
