An exciting opportunity has arisen in the MSk Lab to take forward the MSk Lab’s Treadmill and JointPro patient engagement activities.

The MSk lab aims to improve the clinical outcomes, understanding, and management of musculoskeletal health. Current research within the lab aims to assess the clinical outcomes of patients undergoing joint replacement surgery and develop new technologies, tools, and rehabilitation and surgical techniques.

This post will be responsible for the engagement with patients and clinical partners to maintain and increase recruitment to the JointPro and Treadmill projects.

JointPRO is a web-based platform that captures Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for patients undergoing elective hip, knee and shoulder surgery.

The Treadmill project involves patients walking on an instrumented treadmill to assess their gait before and after clinical interventions.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for recruiting patients to the Treadmill study by taking them through the patient information sheet, organising appointments with patients, managing the treadmill calendar and ensuring the patients can get to and access the lab.

The post holder will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of JointPRO, as well as promoting its use in both clinical and research environments. The day to day running of JointPRO includes inviting patients to register with the system, assisting them where necessary, and prompting patients to score themselves when they are overdue.

Essential requirements

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science related field, and experience of working in a research setting with a good understanding of data and statistical analysis. Experience in project management and of working in a multidisciplinary team is also required.
