Doctoral Programmes Administrator (Part Time)

Be a part of our new Doctoral College

The University of Bath is proud to be one of the UK's leading universities, with an international reputation for the quality of our research and teaching.

We aim to grow our reputation as an international leader in graduate education and as part of achieving this aim we have established a Doctoral College, which opened in August 2017 based in the new 10 West Building. The Doctoral College pools our considerable collective expertise and resource into a specialist hub, which supports a high quality experience for each of our ever increasing number of doctoral students.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to help us deliver a comprehensive and professional service to those studying and supporting PhD or other doctoral programmes. As part of our Doctoral College Programmes team you will play a vital role in providing efficient and effective support to research students and members of academic staff supervising those students. It will be your job to answer queries from students and staff and to provide information and guidance; to ensure full compliance with University policies, regulations and procedures as they relate to doctoral provision; and to take responsibility for the creation and maintenance of accurate student records for research students. You will also be expected to support other members of the Doctoral College team and provide assistance and guidance where necessary.

Applicants for this post should have previous experience of working in a busy office environment in an administrative role. Attention to detail is very important as is the ability to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities. You will need to work closely with other team members, academic colleagues and students from across the world, so excellent communication skills are highly important. You will be an experienced team player, able to work on own initiative, with a high degree of flexibility, and a quick learner. You should have excellent computer skills, with a proficiency in Word and Excel, and the ability to learn use of database systems. Knowledge/experience of Business Objects and/or SAMIS/SITS would be beneficial.

Applicants are encouraged to address in their application each of the essential and desirable Criteria listed in the Job Description – failure to do so may prevent an application being shortlisted.

This role is offered on a part time basis working 22.5 hours per week over 3 days.
